Juice Fast

Fasting has been a common practice since the beginning of the world. Many people from the bible fasted including Jesus. Our bodies are constantly consuming food and fasting gives your body a chance to heal because your body isn't putting all its energy into digesting foods. Without obstacles in the way, our body will automatically seek health through the process of eliminating poisons and balancing its chemistry.
Fasting, essentially, gives the body time to heal by casting out poisons. The principle in fasting is restoring health through cleansing. Most of our diets consist of preservatives, pesticides, insecticides, rancid oils, artificial colors and flavors, and various chemicals that overload our organs. As this toxic overload accumulates from year to year from poor diet it begins to interfere with the bodies normal functions and our eliminations become impaired. As a result we become sick with diseases, headaches, body odor, and many other ailments.
In order to fast effectively, you need to be clear on your intentions. Most people with good intentions fast for spiritual and or physical need. For this post I will stick with the physical healing through fasting. Our bodies naturally fast when we are sick... Why? So the bodies immune system can work on getting our body well. Fasting extends our life and gives us more energy. In a study that was conducted on mice who were fasted every third day, it extended their life span by 40 percent. Fasting also is a great way to loose those stubborn extra pounds and to rid yourself of addictions to coffee, sweets, drugs, alcohol, fried foods and other bad habits.
Some of the ailments that can be treated through fasting are:
Allergies, Asthma, Bronchitis, Hay Fever, Hives, Obesity, Insomnia, Migraine Headaches, Inflammations, High/ low Blood Pressure, Skin diseases, Acne, Constipation, Gall Stones, Diarrhea, cancer and Tumors.
Make fasting a regular part of your life. I suggest starting with a 1 - 14 day fast once a year.  A one to three day fast will allow your body to do a little house cleaning. A seven to fourteen day fast allows deeper cellular elimination and repair. The first 3 days are the hardest and then your body gets over the hump of the side effects of ridding toxins and starts the process of repair. Around day 5 you start feeling better and more energetic. Its best to start a fast with a day or two of raw fruits and vegetables to slowly get your body eliminating toxins so you won't feel so bad during those first few days. I suggest when finished with your fast to eat raw fruits and vegetables and slowly add eggs then meats back to your diet. Do this for at least three days after your juice fast.
When juice fasting drink lots of distilled water and drink only fresh juice not bottled juice. Its also best to juice organic fruits and vegetables. I usually use some supplements from Renew Life to aid in the detoxing process and get some green powder from the health food store. I juice Carrots, green apples, kale, ginger, lemon and cucumber. There are many combinations of juice but this is a good nutritional and yummy juice to start with. Juice as much as you need throughout the day. If you feel hungry then drink some juice.
Well I hope you learned a little about juice fasting and are encouraged to give it a try. It is well worth the pain to feel revived and refreshed after juice fasting.

Angie

From the beginning...

Thanks for stopping by!

I will start with this disclaimer, I am not a good writer, so please forgive me for the grammatical errors. :) I am starting this blog to encourage people to eat healthy like the Lord intended, exercise more and to find grace in Jesus when we fall.

I had eaten like a southern girl all my life and was a very sickly young child, who had chronic ear infections and bladder infections and was on antibiotics 24/7. I watched people I love die of cancer and die from cancer drugs. I knew God had a better way for us and was determined as a young adult to find the answers.

It was in the year of 1998 that the Lord laid it on my heart to start researching and practicing better health. I decided to go to college for nutrition and began my journey to a better way of life. Only a semester into college, I found out I was pregnant with our second child and decided to put my education on hold because of my chronic morning sickness. Though, I may have been a "college drop out" the Lord lead me to multiple books on health and wellness that would change my life. Fast forward to the end of 2000, it was just 6 months after my third child, we were living in Atlanta,  and I was in the best shape of my life. After working out daily at the gym, I would watch and admire the personal trainers and thought to myself, "I could do that." So, I decided to become a certified personal trainer. Several months later, and lots of studying I was sitting in the testing class and made a 98% on my exam. I was now ready to change the worlds direction to healthier living. I'm an all or nothing kinda girl!

I starting my business at Golds Gym in Conyers, Ga and enjoyed several years of teaching people how to eat and how to get fit. During that time my kitchen staples continued to change. I was making whole wheat bread from fresh ground wheat, juicing, fasting, adding herbs and different vitamins to my diet and eating organic. I also learned a lot about alternative cancer treatments through a close friend, who was in his 30's and got colon cancer. I became passionate about alternative treatments to treat illnesses and learned how diet, juice fasting, enemas and chelation therepy can heal your body.

Near the end of 2004, the Lord moved us to Daphne, AL and all that hard work  slowly came to an end. When arriving in Daphne, we noticed no large gym to train from. The only gym was the Y.M.C.A. and after living in Atlanta and charging $55 an hour, the Y.M.C.A. didn't come close to paying me what I felt I deserved. So I felt I was pushed into another career. I won't bore you with my career change since this blog is about health.

Living in lower Alabama I was surrounded by southern cooking, had no Whole Foods Market or Dekalb Farmers Market and slowly began to slip back into my old ways of eating.
The past few years have been extremly stressful because of marriage issues, job loss, and lossing our home. I stopped exercising as much and started allowing junk food back into my diet while still eating my healthy food.  As a result I gained 20lbs. and starting feeling bad and thats why this year I have decided to get back to my all organic no junk diet, exercise more, get rid of bad habits and start this blog.

The Lord has been so gracious to us this past year and healed our marriage, given Mark a great job and forgiven me for my failures.

I have all this knowledge about diet and exercise and felt it was time to share a little with you. I hope you are encouraged as you read this blog. :)

In Him,
Angie
